Denny Ruud is well known in book arts for his incredible leather work, calligraphy and conservation work. His teflon folder is one of the favorite tools in my work box. It has the mysterious quality of not leaving a mark on paper when it's used. (Often a typical bone folder will actually "polish" your paper.)
A few years ago I was browsing the store at Minnesota Center for Book Arts and found a display of his book pins. These little wonders are actual books with beautifully detailed covers, marbled end pages and either a little text or hand-drawn illustration inside. The books don't hang open when you've pinned them on either...there is a sweet little closure that keeps them tidy. As a book artist, I love wearing them (I now have two). The number of people who ask "is that a real book?" is always surprising to me, but I love the "reveal"...when you demonstrate that there is a reward for opening the cover (as there is for any book!).

These are lovely, RL. I can see why they'd be a treat to own and wear.
